About Riley

An Associate in the Commercial + Dispute Resolution group, Riley advises on restructuring and insolvency.

Cashflow and insolvency issues can be stressful for business owners and creditors so Riley helps them to understand their options to get the best outcome in the shortest timeframe. He also helps clients to plan and manage the process in a cost efficient and timely manner.

Clients include insolvency professionals across a broad range of appointments, including liquidators, external administrators, deed administrators, receivers and creditors. Riley's experience of insolvency appointments includes pursuing debtors, defending claims brought by liquidators, or acting for directors of companies who have been subject to an insolvency appointment.

Relevant Experience

Riley has assisted in:

  • acting for and advising liquidators with respect to external administrations, deeds of company arrangement, receiverships and winding up of companies;
  • instructing counsel and appearing in the Federal Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of Queensland in advancing and defending applications for winding up of companies;
  • acting for liquidators conducting public examinations and instructing counsel upon such examinations; and
  • acting for builders and construction specialists in recovering money owing from superior contractors or principals.

Riley's broader dispute experience includes working with corporate and agribusiness clients both in the role of plaintiff and defendant in commercial disputes.
