Peter Jolly, Deputy Chairman of Partners at Thynne + Macartney, has been announced as a Finalist in the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards in the category of ‘Commercial’ law for the second year running.
“We are very proud that Peter is a finalist for a second time. Peter is not just a leader at Thynne + Macartney, he also provides leadership within the broader legal profession,” Ashley Lamb, General Manager at Thynne + Macartney said.
Peter is a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Business Law and served on the Queensland Law Society Business Law Specialist Accreditation Committee for 8 years until 2016. He then joined the Queensland Law Society’s Specialist Accreditation Board and is currently Deputy Chair. He will assume the role of Chair of that Board in March 2017. Peter is also a Senior Counsellor with the Queensland Law Society.
Within Thynne + Macartney, Peter leads the Business Advisory & Dispute Resolution Group as joint Head of the practice and shares his broad experience in commerce by providing direction for the firm through serving as a member of the firm’s Executive Board. As a senior decision maker, he has a vital role to play in helping the firm forge ahead dealing with areas such as general operations, finance, marketing, IT and human resources. He provides advice to the wider partnership on these broad issues, setting policy and making budgetary decisions with the fellow members of the Executive.
Peter was also a champion of Thynne + Macartney’s decision in 2016 to partner with the Gallipoli Medical Research Foundation (GMRF). GMRF is a not for profit organisation based in Brisbane, which funds and facilitates medical research to prevent, cure or lessen the impact of diseases affecting the Australian community but with a special emphasis on former defence force personnel.
“Peter has a unique leadership style. Not only does he lead primarily by example, but he does it with good humour and makes the journey enjoyable. We congratulate Peter on being announced a finalist and support him all the way,” Ashley Lamb said.
The winners of the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards will be announced in Sydney on Friday, 28 April 2017.
