On 1 March 2023, Thynne + Macartney celebrated the 130th anniversary of founding partners, Andrew Thynne and Sir Edward Macartney entering into partnership. The partners and staff paid tribute to all of their clients and staff who have been a part of the long and successful history of the firm.
In conjunction with the 130th anniversary celebrations, Thynne + Macartney farewelled Karen Chaston, who retired after working at the firm since 1976. Karen worked with various partners at the firm in the 1970’s before becoming former Chairman of Partners, John Moore’s Executive Assistant in 1980, a position she’s held for the last 43 years.
Karen was thankful for her time at T+M – ‘Thynne + Macartney is inclusive and you are treated the same whether you are a partner or a secretary … life is short, so get on with it!’
The partners and staff also heard from historian and writer Carmel Carrick, who is researching the history of the firm and its impact on Queensland over the last 130 years.
Current Chairman of Partners, Marc Maskell acknowledged those who have contributed to the ongoing success of Thynne + Macartney, seen through our long-lasting relationships with clients as well as staff, having been at the firm 21 years himself.
Despite the variety of services offered evolving significantly since 1893, we seek to continue our proud history of servicing the businesses, individuals and organisations that make Queensland great.
