Richard Knox joins as the firm's first new GM in 12 years.
As Brisbane’s oldest firm came together with clients and colleagues last week to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the partnership, partners and staff also looked to the future with the appointment of Richard as General Manager.

Prior to that role, Richard was the Head of HR for Ashurst for six years where he oversaw the operations in 10 offices across its APAC network, as well as building and delivering a shared services strategy, located in Brisbane.
“This is an exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to working with the partners to focus on serving the firm’s large client base across Queensland, as well as nationally,” said Richard, “The firm has demonstrated its ability to thrive during times of change across its 130 year history. Chosen by the partners of Thynne + Macartney from a large pool of candidates after an extensive search process, the partners and staff are looking forward to working with Richard.
“Thynne + Macartney has had the benefit of a highly effective and credentialled management team,” said Chairman of Partners, Marc Maskell, “To continue the trajectory of the firm, we recognised that the addition of Richard’s broad set of skills, knowledge and experience, will help us meet our objective of being Queensland’s leading law firm.”
