About Nicole
Nicole is an experienced intellectual property, technology, cyber and privacy lawyer with almost 20 years' experience guiding software, mining, food production and technology companies through the complexities of law, regulation and litigation.
She is a registered Australian Trade Marks Attorney, a member of the Intellectual Property Association of Australia and New Zealand (IPSANZ), a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), a former director of the .au Domain Administration (auDA) and the Australian Information Security Association (AISA) and a fellow of the Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA).
With expertise across IP, technology, privacy and cyber law, Nicole's experience includes:
- Intellectual property law litigation and disputes including patents, trade marks, designs, copyright and trade secrets
- Litigation across various fields including misleading and deceptive conduct, passing off, cyber crime, fraud, payroll theft and misuse of confidential information
- Intellectual property strategic advice including commercialization and freedom to operate advice
- Intellectual Property registration of trade marks and designs
- Privacy Act compliance and data breach notification
- Cyber, fraud, data theft and information security
- Data protection and privacy breach responses
Nicole holds an Electrical Engineering degree and prior to joining the legal profession she worked in the IT industry for 10 years across various industry sectors including in encryption, telecommunications, and the military. Her unique skill set at the intersection of law and technology allows her to consider the wider practical impacts for her clients' businesses.
Nicole has appeared before various courts, including the Federal Court, Federal Appeals Court, Federal Circuit and Family Court and Supreme Court demonstrating her commitment to advocating for business' rights to defend their big ideas and intangible assets.
