Thynne + Macartney announces five new promotions

07 July 2020

Thynne + Macartney is delighted to announce the promotion of two new Partners, two new Senior Associates and a new Associate effective from 1 July 2020.

Congratulations to the following lawyers:

  • Ashleigh Poole in Wills + Estates for her promotion to Partner
  • Michael Mayes in Banking + Finance for his promotion to Partner
  • Hannah Barbour in Agribusiness for her promotion as Senior Associate
  • Damian Riggall in Professional Indemnity for his promotion to Senior Associate
  • Riley McDermott in Commercial + Dispute Resolution for his promotion to Associate.

“It is wonderful that we are announcing these promotions as we return to our usual workplace after what has been three of the more unusual months in the 127-year history of our firm,” says Chairman of Partners Peter Jolly.

“Thynne + Macartney is confident that within our current group of young lawyers the next generation of partners stand ready to be the law firm of the future,” says Peter, “This was evident while working remotely with all staff demonstrating outstanding commitment and dedication in supporting our clients who faced significant change and opportunity in their own businesses.”

A leading principle of Thynne + Macartney is the investment in our people. Those who join the firm have the opportunity of a long and secure career with Thynne + Macartney and more than 40% of our current partners and lawyers have been with Thynne + Macartney for their entire careers, including Damian and Riley. A firm that has survived previous pandemics, as well as World Wars and recessions, Thynne + Macartney was able to offer job security to all staff without implementing pay cuts or unpaid leave during COVID-19.

Congratulations to Ashleigh, Michael, Hannah, Damian and Riley on your well-deserved promotions.
