Chanveer is an Associate in Thynne + Macartney's Maritime + Transport group, based in Cairns.

With over 12 years' experience, Chanveer advises shipowners, operators and insurers in relation to transport and maritime related matters and with general commercial work unique to the maritime sector. He is a highly experienced correspondent for members of the International Group of Protection and Indemnity Clubs and has been involved in all aspects of P&I correspondent work and advising other liability and hull insurers on maritime issues.

Chanveer is experienced in matters relating to:

• casualties such as collisions, property damage, and groundings
• pollution incidents
• cargo claims
• medevacs and repatriations
• stowaways and crew desertions
• sale and purchase of vessels
• preparing towage and charterparty contracts and dispute resolution
• regulatory issues.

He has been involved in resolving many high-profile marine incidents across Australia, Papua New Guinea and the Southwest Pacific.

Qualifications

• Admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of Australia in September 2013
• Admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in August 2013
• Bachelor of Laws – James Cook University
