Our General Manager Ashley Lamb has been selected as a Finalist for General Manager of the Year and Executive of the Year at the 2022 Australasian Legal Practice Management Association (ALPMA) Awards.
Ashley is the only finalist in both categories which recognise an outstanding leader who has made a real difference, in a strategic sense, to their workplace in terms of impact and effectiveness and is seen as a leader among their peers.
Appointed General at just 27 years of age, Ashley has held this role for 10 years. Having been a benefactor of internal promotion, Ashley is passionate about career progression and has implemented a program providing a detailed career path for everyone at the firm. This has been supported with a Learning & Development program which in FY22 offered over 57 sessions targeted to skills to obtain the next step in a career, along with a 12-month wellness program, mental health programs, Early Career Lawyers networking programs and Coaching and Mentoring for all staff.
During his tenure as General Manager, Ashley has worked with three Chairmans of Partners – all very different leaders and people. It is testament to the high regard that Ashley is held by all partners that he continues to hold this role through significant changes of leadership.
Ashley is dedicated to, and prioritises the wellbeing of the partners, lawyers and staff at Thynne + Macartney. The most recent example of this is during the Brisbane floods in February 2022. Ashley telephoned every member of staff to ascertain the impact of the floods on them and, where needed, arranged for assistance to be provided both by him and the firm as a whole.
He was instrumental in the firm’s commitment to its employees during COVID-19 lockdowns, introducing and adopting work from home policies early, which avoided any need for reduction in staff hours or salaries throughout the pandemic.
As Thynne + Macartney prepares to celebrate its 130th anniversary, Ashley is driving the ongoing success of the firm as it continues to change, adapt and innovate for the next 130 years.
This awards follows recognition received earlier this year for management instigated programs including our recognition as Finalist for Wellbeing Initiative of the year at the Lawyers Weekly Australian Law Awards and Health and Wellbeing Initiative at the QLS Excellence in Law Awards.
