We are proud to announce that Partner Ashleigh Poole (Wills + Estates) and Acting General Manager & Finance Manager Nicole Green are finalists in the Women in Law Awards.
Hosted by Lawyers Weekly, the Women in Law Awards is the benchmark for excellence, recognising the exceptional women leading change in the Australian legal profession.
Ashleigh and Nicole are award finalists for the second consecutive year at the prestigious awards.
During a busy 2023, Ashleigh, a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Succession Law, was the lead advisor on numerous complex and high-profile estate planning matters.
Ashleigh holds the distinguished position of Chair for a sub-committee within the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) in Australia. With her strategic input, the committee has successfully instituted a national mentoring program.
As one of Thynne + Macartney’s three female partners, Ashleigh manages her responsibilities as a mother to school-aged children and leads by example demonstrating the importance of work/life balance. She advocates for flexible working arrangements firm-wide and actively mentors and advances women within the organisation, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Following the recent departure of Thynne + Macartney’s long-serving General Manager, Finance Manager Nicole Green, a member of the firm’s five-person Executive Team, was promoted to acting General Manager while retaining her responsibilities as Finance Manager.
As the sole female member of the Executive Team, Nicole plays a pivotal role in advocating for gender diversity and inclusivity within the firm’s strategic decisions. Since 2015, she has been effectively managing her team remotely from Newcastle while openly discussing the challenges of balancing work commitments with her role as a single mother of two. As a member of the Women in Legal Committee, Nicole introduced policies that promote female leadership and provide support for working parents, including progressive parental leave and remote work arrangements.
As a qualified lawyer and accountant, Nicole firmly believes that financial literacy is an essential skill for the success of every lawyer. With firsthand experience of how a lack of financial knowledge can affect the success and confidence of a lawyer, Nicole developed and delivered a financial literacy program that is part of a lawyer’s training from the time they joined the firm.
The much-anticipated Women in Law award winners will be announced during the ceremony in Melbourne on 23 November.
Congratulations to Ashleigh, Nicole, and all the other female finalists leading the charge in Australian law. We are proud to see their hard work recognised by Lawyers Weekly, upholding our 130-year legacy of providing Queensland clients with the industry’s leading legal minds.
