About Paul
Paul leads Thynne + Macartney's Banking + Finance group with over 20 years of experience in financial services, insolvency and commercial law. He delivers technical expertise with pragmatic commercial solutions to the finance, investment and not-for profit sector.
Experienced in acting for banks and other financial institutions, he assists these clients in a variety of lending transactions, including syndicated loans, funding social infrastructure such as hospitals, aged care facilities, universities and schools, project & asset finance, corporate finance, rural finance as well as specialised lending such as financing superannuation funds and management and letting rights. He also acts for borrowers in lending transactions.
Assisting clients in relation to financial services, Paul advises on and applies for Australian Financial Services Licences and Australian Credit Licences. Paul is also an external compliance member of a registered managed investment scheme.
Paul can assist in corporate acquisitions as well and advises on fundraising and other commercial arrangements. This includes working on a variety of fintech and other IT arrangements such as banking platforms, electronic donations and buy now pay later solutions.
He also assists corporate recovery clients to realise distressed assets.
Paul's expertise further extends to property transactions including property acquisitions and leasing.
